Kevin Colahan

Kevin Colahan

Psychologist – Currently unable to accept new referrals.

Kevin has been providing psychological services to the Cairns region since 1990. He has extensive experience working with children, adults and families both in the mental health setting and in private practice. Prior to establishing Cairns Psychology Group, Kevin worked for the Queensland Health Mental Health Service initially as a clinician and later as a Manager of both Adult and Child & Youth Mental Health teams. He has also previously worked for the Family Court of Australia as a mediator. Kevin’s professional interests include the assessment of learning disorders in children and adults, positive psychology and psychological interventions for the treatment of anxiety and depression.

Marjan Jazbani

Marjan Jazbani

Marjan is a registered psychologist with experience working with children, adults and families, within the educational system as well as the non-government sector. Her experience ranges from working with children and adults who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, separation and relationships issues. Marjan provides a range of therapeutic interventions, including Mindfulness and Acceptance Based Therapies, Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Her areas of interest are grief and loss, relationships counselling, and the assessment and treatment of childhood emotional and behavioural problems and developmental disorders.

Manon van der Lee

Manon van der Lee

Psychotherapist / Counsellor – Accepting new referrals

Manon has a Master of Arts degree (MA) in Body and Movement Oriented Psychotherapy and has extensive experience in working with children, teenagers, adults and families within non-government sector, psychiatric wards, and treatments centres for people with intellectual disabilities. Her experience ranges from working with children and adults who are impacted by trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences, emotional and behavioural issues. Manon provides a range of psychotherapy interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Relationship Counselling. She is a trained facilitator in parent educational programs such as Circle of Security and 1-2-3 Magic and Emotion Coaching. Manon is a registered supervisor for counsellors and mental health workers and owns her private practice in Port Douglas (www.fnqfamilytherapy.com.au).

Sasha Adams

Sasha Adams

Social Worker / Counsellor – Currently unable to accept new referrals.

Sasha is a registered accredited Social Worker and has completed postgraduate studies specialising in child, youth, and family therapy.  Before moving into private practice, Sasha worked with non-government organisations providing individual, couples, and family therapy and support work across all ages. Sasha now provides counselling and therapy to children, adolescents and adults, including couples and families. Her experience includes working with a range of concerns including impacts of childhood adversity, emotional and behavioural concerns, impacts of trauma, anxiety, depression, parenting concerns, relationship issues, family separation and grief and loss. Sasha’s practice framework includes the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, Expressive and Sensorimotor Art Therapy, and somatic-based approaches.
Sasha has extensive experience facilitating therapeutic and educational groups for all ages and is a registered facilitator of the parenting program Circle of Security.
Sasha also provides supervision services for Social Workers and is registered as a supervisor with the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Rebecca Blackwood

Rebecca is a registered psychologist who has completed a Master in Clinical Psychology with Distinction. Prior to working in private practice, Rebecca worked in the non-government sector and has over fifteen years’ experience counselling individuals and couples as well as providing clinical supervision to psychologists, social workers and counsellors. Rebecca also has experience working with children and adolescents in a hospital and community mental health setting. Rebecca uses a range of therapeutic interventions including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Schema Therapy. She has a particular interest in perinatal loss which was the focus of her Masters’ thesis as well as trauma, grief and loss and mood disorders. She also enjoys the assessment and treatment of developmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.

Klaudija Tomic

Klaudija is a registered psychologist with experience working with children, adults and families in private practice and non-government sector. She has an interest in the assessment and treatment of childhood emotional and behavioural problems and developmental disorders. Klaudija has a particular interest in psychometric assessment and diagnosis of academic issues and learning difficulties. She is passionate about better understanding how children learn and supports they may need at school to reach their full potential. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents with difficulties adjusting to family separation and providing individual and group therapy. Klaudija is a trained facilitator of the Secret Agent Society social skills program for children and enjoys working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Klaudija provides therapy to individuals and couples for a range of issues including depression, anxiety, and stress and relationship problems using a range of intervention modalities such as, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Narrative therapies.

Virve (Vee) Mujunen

Is no longer in private practice.

Virve (Vee) is a registered psychologist with extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety and depression with both children and adults. She has an interest in providing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Minfulness and Acceptance based therapies for depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, as well as relationship counselling. Virve also has a particular interest and experience in the assessment and treatment of behavioural issues and developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder and learning difficulties. Virve has also completed training as a facilitator of the Secret Agent Society social skills program for children and offers this program on an individual basis. Virve works with children, teenagers and adults.


Haylee

Haylee Briggs

Reception/Administration

Haylee has been at Cairns Psychology Group since 2022. Haylee loves being able to help people get the assistance they need and to be a smiling face when clients come in. When she isn’t working she is chasing her toddler around or sneaking in some crochet time. Haylee loves to collect bright and colourful earrings as well (keep an eye out when you come in).
